With over four decades of practice, Matyas Architects & Interiors is a multi-disciplinary design studio specialising in bespoke residential, commercial, and multi-residential projects across Melbourne and beyond.
Our work integrates architecture and interior design in parallel, allowing us to deliver highly considered, contextually responsive spaces that feel cohesive from the building form to the finest interior detail.

Concept Design
This phase captures the vision. We explore spatial planning, mood, materiality and form - crafting a design narrative that reflects our client’s aspirations, the site’s context, and our shared design philosophy.
Design Development
We refine the architectural and interior direction in tandem, working collaboratively with consultants, engineers and builders (where applicable). Every element, from façade detailing to joinery, is thoughtfully developed to ensure consistency and clarity from the inside out.
Finishes & Fixtures
With an eye for detail and material integrity, we curate finishes, fittings and fixtures across both architecture and interiors - tailored to suit each unique project.
Documentation
Our comprehensive documentation packages are highly detailed, to ensure a smooth transition from design to build. They include 2D architectural drawings, custom joinery, lighting and electrical layouts, architectural specifications and materials, fixtures and fittings schedules (incl. lighting, plumbing, door hardware and appliances).
Contract Administration
We provide comprehensive contract administration throughout construction, acting as the client’s representative to oversee the delivery of works in line with the design intent. This includes assessing builder claims, issuing progress certificates, coordinating variations and post-construction management of defects and final certification.
Furniture & Styling
We offer full furniture planning and procurement services, including custom-designed pieces where appropriate. This final layer adds those finishing touches that align aesthetically with the interior experience and architectural intent.
